K is for Kansas
Exploring Kansas from A to Z
Coffey County Museum will host the exhibit “K is for Kansas” June 13, 2026-August 21,2026. “K is for Kansas: Exploring Kansas from A to Z” uses large alphabet blocks to build the story of the Sunflower State.
Visitors can explore the natural and cultural history of Kansas from “aviation” to “Z-Bar Ranch.” A block for each letter of the alphabet contains artifacts, hands-on activities, historic and contemporary illustrations of the unique people, places, animals and plants of Kansas. Preschoolers can hold the shell of the ornate box turtle at the “O” block. Schoolchildren can play a mini-basketball game at the “N” block while learning about James Naismith, the inventor of basketball and the first University of Kansas basketball coach.
The block-buster “K is for Kansas” exhibit was organized and produced by Kauffman Museum, Bethel College, in North Newton, Kan.
The Coffey County Museum is open Monday—Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, closed on Friday, July 3rd. The museum will also be open from 10 am to 4 pm on the following Saturdays: June 13th, June 20th, July 11th, July 18th, August 8th, and August 18th. Admission is FREE, but monetary donations are greatly appreciated.
